Shelly Smith

Insolvency Practitioner, Senior Manager of Business Recovery and Insolvency

A brief introduction

Anyone with financial difficulties will have endured a fair amount of stress and worry. My aim is always to provide the best possible service to clients, advising them of their options and where that involves an insolvency process, to support and guide them through. We’re here to help!

I am a qualified Insolvency Practitioner with more than 20 years’ experience.  In the early part of my career, I managed the insolvency team of a mid-tier practice in Bath, before qualifying as an Insolvency Practitioner and joining one of the Big Four. I moved to MHA Monahans in 2010, keen for the direct client contact and variety that an independent firm brings, and I’m so glad that I did! It’s a pleasure to belong to such an experienced and well-respected team.

I have extensive experience in corporate insolvency with specific expertise in the small-to-medium enterprise market, working across a range of sectors including property, hotels, retail and internet businesses. At the other end of the scale, I deal with solvent liquidations (MVLs) too, enabling shareholders to achieve a tax-efficient return on their investment.

I also advise on personal insolvency matters, including voluntary arrangements and bankruptcy in relation to sole traders and individuals, and have a particular interest in insolvent deceased estates.

 I am a member of R3.
