Setting up as a Contractor
Once you have decided that Contracting is right for you, there are a number of steps to go through.
- Decide whether you want to operate through a limited company or trade through an umbrella company.
- Discover more about the pros and cons of each here.
- Assuming you choose the limited company route, you will need to select a name for, and form, the Limited Company. Monahans can carry out all of the administratative tasks associated with this and your new company will be formed in a matter of hours. We will also advise you on the best share structure possible for your new company.
- You will then receive all your Limited Company documentation and we will help you to organise a business bank account and register the company for VAT, PAYE and corporation tax.
- You will also need to consider whether your registered office will be at your home, at a formal business address, or indeed at our offices.
Monahans have a dedicated team of specialists looking after the affairs of Contractors and can advise on all aspects of becoming a Contractor. Or if you are already a Contractor and need an Accountant to help you manage your affairs as efficiently and profitably as possible, we have the knowledge and expertise to do just that.
