Anthony Cohen

Tony Cohen is a Relationship Partner specialising in tax and is a director of our investments and pensions business, Monahans Financial Services Limited. Tony has a particular expertise in trusts and capital taxes and is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners. He sees his particular strengths as:
- Estate planning in order to minimise inheritance tax.
- Advising on the creation and administration of family trusts.
- Helping businesses and landowners reduce potential Capital Gains Tax costs.
- Structuring businesses so as to minimise capital taxes during lifetime and on death.
Tony's interests away from the office include classic cars, classical music, theatre and travel.

Dominic Bourquin

Dominic relocated from London in January 2008 to join Monahans. Previously with BDO Stoy Hayward, he has gained a wealth of knowledge in the areas of Corporation Tax, business restructuring, mergers and demergers and pre-sale planning both in the UK and internationally. He provides advice on these topics to business clients across all of Monahans five offices in Bath, Chippenham, Glastonbury, Swindon and Trowbridge.

Harry Hilliard is a Relationship Partner who specialises in advising a range of family companies and professional partnerships. He believes in developing good working relationships with clients through regular communication and regards the interaction with clients as the most important and satisfying aspect of his work.
A commitment to the local and business community is illustrated by his involvement as a director of the Wessex Association of Chambers of Commerce. He is also Chairman of the Transforming Trowbridge Steering Group, whose aim is to regenerate the heart of Wiltshire's county town.
Harry is Chairman of our Investments and Pensions business, Monahans Financial Services Limited.
Out of the office his interests include wine, travel and sport.

Iain Black

Iain Black is a Relationship Partner who specialises in advising businesses and individuals on Audit, Management Accounting and Tax.
He joined the firm in January 2008 after spending seventeen years working in the Assurance Practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers. During this time he has gained a large amount of experience dealing with clients from small owner managed business through to large public and private companies and large multinationals.
His experience covers waste management, farming and rural suppliers, retail and wholesale, engineering, fabrication, construction and engineering consultancy.
Out of the office Iain enjoys exploring the countryside on his mountain bike, supporting his favourite rugby and football teams, and enjoying a round of golf.
Iain is based in our Swindon office.
Ian Lloyd

- Business Improvement and Strategic Planning opportunities.
- Agricultural and Farming – Ian spent three years away from the profession with Strutt & Parker (Farming, Land Agents and Chartered Surveyors). He is a Member of the NFU and The Institute of Agricultural Management.
- The local business community.
Ian is a past President of Chippenham Chamber of Commerce and continues to play an active role on the Executive Committee. Outside work he enjoys rugby, athletics and playing cricket.

Linda has considerable expertise in working with charities and enjoys helping a number of charity clients achieve their objectives.

Martin Longmore

Martin Longmore is the Relationship Partner who heads up the general practice elements of our Bath office. Looking after a diverse range of corporate clients in the owner-managed SME sector, he has developed a broad experience of corporate work, including computer consultancy companies.
As a qualified business improvement facilitator, Martin is responsible for delivering strategic planning workshops for clients. As an audit specialist, he has responsibility throughout the firm for audit compliance work.
Martin acts for contractors all over the world and when not working he enjoys the challenges of windsurfing and snowboarding.

Michael Shawyer

Mike Shawyer is the firm's Managing Partner and is responsible for the strategic direction of Monahans as well as ensuring we meet the requirements of our clients to enable us to meet our objectives as a business. He also acts as a Relationship Partner for a number of our clients and has a particular specialism in VAT problem solving and planning.
His expertise lies in:
- Advice on early VAT planning in complex areas such as commercial property, partial exemption and international services.
- Helping clients to grow their businesses.
Outside of work he enjoys the gentle relaxation of bowls and sport in general.

Paul McConnell

Paul McConnell is our Insolvency Partner and has hands on experience of every insolvency and rescue procedure. He has 25 years experience in helping small businesses, from architects to zoos, address difficult issues. Paul helps those in difficulty:

- Make effective use of current legislation to save a business where possible, or manage the process to minimise damage.

Peter Lugg

Peter Lugg is the Partner responsible for the development of Corporate Finance Services at Monahans. Peter’s particular strengths are:
- Raising acquisition finance.
- Identification of acquisition targets, approaching these targets and generally managing the acquisition process.

- Understanding and resolving ‘Financial Assistance’ issues.
- Instructing solicitors and overseeing the legal process.

Richard Formby

Richard Formby is the Partner heading our Forensic Accounting Service. He has 20 years experience in business advisory, forensic accounting and financial investigations work.
Richard, who is a practising member of the Academy of Experts and is on the Law Society list of experts, heads one of the leading forensic accountancy specialist teams in the West of England.
Richard has acted in a wide variety of civil and criminal matters in over 500 cases ranging from insurance based injury claims, disputed share/business valuations, commercial consequential loss, professional negligence and business interruption claims to complex fraud cases.
To relax Richard enjoys canoeing, cycling and walking.

Simon Cooper

Simon became Relationship Partner in April 2007 after a lengthy service as a manager.
During his stretch at Monahans, Simon has spent time within various areas of the business including Forensic Accounting, which involves aspects of litigation ranging from Financial Losses in personal injury cases and Business Valuations through to Divorce Cases. Simon now concentrates on looking after a portfolio of varied small business and private clients.
Simon lives in Chippenham and in his spare time is a keen sportsman, regularly playing badminton and following most sports, especially football.

Simon Tombs
Simon Tombs became a Relationship Partner in November 2008 after 7 years service at Monahans as a Senior Manager. He has 22 years experience both with accountancy firms and in industry, making him ideally placed to look after the financial affairs of both business and private clients.
He is also responsible for the provision of our audit and accounts services across all five offices at Monahans, ensuring all work meets the requirements of our clients in terms of timing, quality and cost effectiveness.
Any spare time he has is taken up by two young daughters and by his passion for restoring classic cars.

Steve is also responsible for the management and development of Monahans computer systems, having a unique ability to blend special expertise in both accounting and computer skills.
