Graduates
As a leading and rapidly growing firm of Chartered Accountants, we look to recruit a number of graduates each year who wish to start a career where they can truly make a mark.
Why Choose Monahans?
By working at Monahans you will be joining a firm which is large enough to offer the development opportunities you expect, but small enough to provide individual friendly support and the chance to make a real difference to us and our clients.
We do not employ simple number-crunchers. You will be expected to work with a wide variety of business and private clients, to gain an in-depth understanding of their needs and to proactively offer solutions and strategies. Our objective is to act as business partners to our clients helping them to increase their wealth and to grow their businesses and this is the responsibility of everyone working here. Job satisfaction is what we all want and we recognise that this comes through variety and the ability to make a difference.
Working within a team environment, you will be given ever greater levels of responsibility as you prove yourself through work experience and passing exams.
The goal for all of our graduate trainees is to become a fully qualified Chartered or Certified Accountant within three years. Although not easy, we will support you every step of the way and will reward you as you pass exams at each stage, but in return we do expect a high level of commitment. We provide time off on full pay to study for exams and will pay for the costs of all courses, exam costs and textbooks. You will also be supported through White Horse Accountancy Tuition Limited, a training consortium of which Monahans is a member.
What Comes Next?
Qualifying as a Chartered or Certified Accountant is only the start. Because of the size of our business, there are opportunities to develop your career through different offices and through the variety of specialist services we have. There are even opportunities to try out different parts of the business before deciding where you want to specialise.
We believe in constant development for everyone who works at Monahans and will encourage you to take on more responsibility as you gain further experience. Leading teams and managing others will be part of your role. This requires more than just technical skill and through a personal development plan, we will help you to develop the relevant people and communication skills you will need.
You will be encouraged to participate in project teams developing areas of our business in a way that is simply not possible in larger firms. Recent examples include development of an Environmental Policy for the business, introduction of a Young Professionals networking club in Bath, organisation of the White Horse Challenge fund raising event and general networking activity to develop new business.
The general culture at Monahans encourages everyone to develop ideas for improvement and which take us into new areas. So there really is a chance for you to make a difference.
Ultimately we hope that you will become a partner of the firm as a just reward for all of your efforts and to enable you to have an even greater say in the future direction of our business.
What Do We Look For?
Apart from academic ability we are interested in ambitious individuals who enjoy a challenge, are proactive, drive change, are able to develop relationships with others and who are commercially astute.
