An example of this was the professional negligence of a solicitor when drafting a lease.
A number of blocks of flats were built for the elderly but some of the flats had defective leases so the tenants were not required to contribute to the maintenance of the lift.
The issue was how much would the builders of the block of flats now have to suffer to maintain the lifts over the life of the lease (125 years). This amounted to in excess of £250,000.
