Monahans: Recognised Top 50 SME Apprenticeship Employers for 2024
At Monahans, we are passionate about developing talent from within the business and developing aspiring talent. That is why we are thrilled to be named one of England’s Top 50 SME Apprenticeship Employers for 2024!
The annual rankings, developed by the Department of Education in association with High Fliers Research, ranked Monahans 24th of 50 SME firms. Within the Professional Services category, Monahans now ranks seventh nationally and Number One for the South West region.
For several years, we have focussed on building and expanding our apprenticeship programme as part of our commitment to invest in the local community and to develop a strong pipeline of talent to grow with the business. Over the past 12 months, we’ve seen a record number of apprenticeships completed across our firm, which reflects our continuous effort to create meaningful opportunities for the next generation of accountancy professionals.
We believe in offering two distinct pathways to suit the diverse range of candidates that apply. School leavers can join us as Level 3 apprentices, gaining practical skills from day one, while university graduates can jump in at Level 7 - the equivalent to a master’s degree. Both routes provide our apprentices with real-world experience, on-the-job training, and the security of earning the national living wage.
One of the most exciting aspects of our apprenticeship programme is the chance to "learn while you earn”, which is particularly attractive in the current climate. Apprentices not only gain crucial industry experience in an office environment and surrounded by a team of professionals, but they also receive ongoing support from external learning providers. This holistic approach ensures that they have the time and space to develop the skills they need to succeed, all while working towards their qualifications.
For Monahans, the apprenticeship programme is about more than just helping apprentices succeed, it’s also a smart business strategy. We understand that to have a successful firm, there needs to be a constant stream of high-quality talent and our apprenticeship scheme allows us to reach young professionals eager to learn and grow.
Additionally, as an apprenticeship levy-paying employer, we’re able to recoup some of the training costs. This allows us to reinvest in other areas of the business. We’re excited to continue expanding our apprenticeship offerings across all seven of our offices as we grow.
Accountancy is an exciting and stable career path, but we know it’s a competitive job market. The ranking helps Monahans to reinforce the prospects for the next generation of accountants and we look forward to welcoming many more apprentices in the years to come.
Ellie McQuade, Technical Learning and Development Manager at Monahans, said: “I am proud of the recognition that the apprenticeship scheme has received and we have ambitous plans to continue investing in talent. We’re committed to shaping the future of the accountancy profession by giving young people the tools, training, and opportunities they need to thrive.”
