The Insolvency Company expands across the South West

The Insolvency Company, part of Monahans, has announced the expansion of its newly integrated insolvency team, reflecting the firm’s continued growth across the South and South West.

The insolvency team now operates across all 11 Monahans offices, including Taunton, Bristol, Trowbridge and Swindon.

The move means businesses and individuals throughout the region have easier access to expert support when facing financial difficulty or planning for closure.

Since joining Monahans in 2024, The Insolvency Company has grown steadily, now with 16 experienced insolvency professionals within the team.

Gareth Buckley, Head of Insolvency, said: “Becoming part of Monahans felt like a natural next step for us. We saw an opportunity to build something bigger, but just as personal.”

“We’ve always believed in giving clients clear, practical advice, especially when they’re under pressure, and now we’re able to offer that across more locations, with more support behind us.”

Gareth leads the team with Steve Elliott, Insolvency Partner and Stephanie Buckley, Commercial Partner, combining decades of insolvency experience with a shared commitment to doing things differently.

“Gareth and I have built and run our own business, so we know exactly what the challenges are for businesses and what it’s like trying to make the right decisions when the pressure’s on.”

“Every situation is different, but what matters most is having the right conversation early on. Now that our team is spread across the region, we’re able to have more of those conversations face to face, which makes all the difference.”

As part of Monahans, The Insolvency Company now sits alongside a wider range of services, from accountancy and audit to HR and business advisory. This provides clients access to joined-up support throughout all stages of the business lifecycle.

The integration also reflects Monahans’ alignment with the Sumer Group, a UK and Ireland-wide alliance of businesses committed to championing SMEs. Through Sumer, local teams retain their face-to-face, partner-led service while gaining access to a national network.

With team members fluent in Polish, French, and Spanish, the team is well-positioned to support businesses in cross-border work. This is further supported by Monahans’ membership of GGI | Global Alliance, one of the world’s leading alliances of independent professional services firms, providing valuable opportunities for international collaboration.

This means clients get the best of both worlds – trusted relationships built locally, backed by national and international expertise that can be brought in the moment it’s needed, whether the challenge is technical, commercial, or cross-border.
